The library building
Kongsvinger Library is since 2009-01-05 situateded in a new building with a fantastic architecture and a view to the park and the river Glomma. The building has two open floors and a glass- facade and roof, which allows the daylight to flow in.The shifting daylight has a nice effect and changes the experience of the library space and art. There are plenty of places where you can sit down, and in our little café you can relax and have a cup of coffee (closed for the time being).
Learning center
Besides being a public knowledge- and learning center, Kongsvinger Library also is a school library for Sentrum Videregående skole (upper secondary school).
There are several places in the library where you can study; out in the main room or by yourself in a “studycell”. We also have two rooms for teaching, conferences and lectures - one of them has permanent computers.
Digital services
The library has a day and night service through the internet site. Here you can search for literature and make your own account (MappaMi) for self service.
If you want, you can also choose to receive an SMS when reserved books are ready for you at the libray, and a reminder a couple of days before your expire date.
There are lots of public computers where you have free access to the internet, programs for writing, Photoshop and scanning. Printing has a cost of NOK 3,00 for black/white and NOK 6,00 for colours. The price is lower for students at Sentrum Videregående skole; NOK 0,50 and NOK 1,00 (A4).
Besides the stationary computers, you also can use your own laptop in the entire building.
There are two automates where you can registrer your own borrows. You have to have your lending card with you to use the automates.
Culture
In the library you can also experience cultural events such as theatre for children or adults, lectures and exhibitions.
Our two studyrooms are available for rent at a cost of NOK 350,- pr. day and NOK 700,- pr. evening.
Books for everyone
Kongsvinger Library has a collection of books adjusted for those of us who have difficulties in picking up ordinary text.
We also co-operate with different persons who wants to read loud for groups or single persons.
The library has a free service of bringing books home to persons within the local council who is functionally disabled.
Other languages
If you want to borrow books in different languages, we will help you with that. We usually order book from the main public library in Oslo, Deichmanske bibliotek.
